Molecule Builder Requirements
Linux PC
- Intel Pentium/Itanium or AMD Athlon/Opteron based Linux PC running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation 3, Fedora Core 3, 7.x, 8.0
- 256 MB RAM (512+ MB recommended)
- 50 MB free disk space for ECCE Builder with additional disk space required during installation
- Software
- XFree86 4.x X Window Server included with Red Hat ELWS3, FC3, 7.x, 8.0
- Hardware OpenGL graphics card and driver software recommended (NVIDIA Quadro and ATI FireGL especially recommended) or Mesa OpenGL software minimum requirement
- Netscape or Mozilla (included with recommended operating systems)
- KDE or GNOME window manager (others may also work)
Sun Workstation
- Solaris 2.8 or Solaris 2.9 operating system (ECCE is currently built with Solaris 2.8 but will also work under Solaris 2.9. It is not compatible with Solaris 2.6 and 2.7.)
- 256 MB RAM (512+ MB recommended)
- 70 MB free disk space for ECCE Builder with additional disk space required during installation
- Creator3D, Elite3D-lite, Elite3D, Expert3D-lite, Expert3D, PGX64, XVR-500, or XVR-1000 hardware graphics card (possibly others) and Sun OpenGL driver software (v1.2.2 or v1.3 recommended)
- 24-bit color display
- Software
- Netscape
- CDE window manager (OpenWindows and others may also work)
SGI Workstation
- IRIX 6.5 operating system
- 256 MB RAM (512+ MB recommended)
- 60 MB free disk space for ECCE Builder with additional disk space required during installation
- OpenGL hardware graphics (Power Challenge servers insufficient)
- 24-bit color display
- Software
- Netscape
- 4Dwm window manager (CDE and others may also work)
NOTE: The ECCE Builder will run from a Microsoft Windows PC using an X Server program to connect to a Linux, Sun, or SGI workstation. The X Server program must support OpenGL. Hummingbird Exceed 3D is our recommended X Server program for Windows PCs. StarNet X-Win32 5.3.3 has also been successfully used. Specific non-critical functionality in the Builder may not work when using these Windows PC X Server programs.
